Why Get Involved?

Tinker|Bristol is being designed to meet the needs of the businesses, institutions and makers who will use it. Volunteers and contributors will help shape Tinker|Bristol’s final form and function.

We invite you to help us develop a unique manufacturing incubator and makerspace, where manufacturers, small businesses, entrepreneurs, hobbyists, master trades people, and makers of all stripes can tinker, develop products, grow businesses and create jobs. We offer opportunities for volunteers to:

  • Play leadership roles on the Steering Committee, Advisory Council, or Board of Directors;
  • Join committees, such as Facilities, Marketing, Development, Makerspace and Incubator;
  • Share expertise on an as-needed basis.

Volunteers, depending on hours and tasks volunteered, may earn credits towards Membership Fees or Classes. Volunteer efforts reduce our overhead and make for a better user experience, expand staffed operating hours, provide a wider range of classes and programming, and informal instruction on equipment and tools and processes.

Here are the ways you can help!

  • Donate or help procure equipment, machines, tools, computers, printers or setup, clean, and calibrate the same.
  • Contribute labor for construction, build-out and maintenance.
  • Help set up operations; training and safety policies, manuals, and procedures.
  • Recruit makerspace members, incubator tenants, professional experts and business service providers.
  • Help develop instructional programming, classes and educational partnerships.
  • Become ambassadors; represent Tinker|Bristol at community and industry events.
  • Help with marketing, website design and content, social media and promotions.
  • Contribute or help secure funding for capitalization, programming and makerspace scholarships.
  • Assist administrative team with systems, applications and database management.
